Control of the decor
The PaperMint teams check your order with the utmost attention before shipping. Nevertheless, in order to avoid any possible mistake, we advise you to check your decor before installation.
The implementation, by you or the installer, engages your responsibility with regard to these products. We do not take back or reimburse a set already installed.
Manufacturing tolerances are 1/1000, i.e. 1 mm per metre. This type of deviation is imperceptible if the strips are correctly centred, so we advise you to check this point before gluing.

Characteristics
Our decors are high quality products manufactured in France with the greatest care and rigorous quality control, nevertheless a decor printed on paper remains a product to handle with care.
Composition
Contract Mat paper is a mix between fiberglass and non-woven fabric, classified fire retardant Bs1d0.
Water resistant, it is rot-proof but not waterproof.
Contract Mat is suitable for damp rooms, respecting the technical rules for laying and preparation of the substrate, in particular :
- laying on water-repellent plasterboard or tiles
- sealant to be applied to the substrate beforehand
- laying with non-woven paper glue
- silicone joints
Ecological paper
Printed with Latex inks (water-based), the Contract Mat paper guarantee a healthy interior without pollutants.
Washable
The Contract Mat paper is washable with a sponge and clear water.
The surface
Wallpaper adhesives adhere only to porous surfaces, preferably prepared with an undercoat or an old paint. Our papers are covering but it is better to put on a wall painted in a plain way without traces or marks.
Surface protection
- Kitchen splashback: we recommend the application of a glass or plexiglass plate behind a hob or even behind a sink, depending on the conditions of use.
- Bathroom, hammam (or any place in which heavy run-off can occur): Contract Mat paper is not intended to ensure watertightness, a layer of polyester resin can nevertheless be applied as a top coat by a professional.
Gluing
Apply the non-woven paper glue to the wall only. Excess glue must be cleaned up during the installation and not after drying.
Quick and easy to apply
Edge-to-edge installation, does not shrink during drying (high stability). Nevertheless, avoid installing the wallpaper in temperatures above 25°C.
Material
Here are the tools you will need for the installation of non-woven paper to glue:
- Non-woven wallpaper glue
- Bucket
- Sponge
- Sizing brush
- Plumb line or ruler or level
- Pencil
- Tape measure
- Sponge brush (do not use a spatula)
- Roller
- Cutter, scissors
- Step ladder
Installation of the decor
Preparing the area
Brush the installation area with a stiff-bristled brush to remove all dirt and loose debris. Clean the surface using a mild detergent solution. Fill any holes, cracks, or imperfections with a high-quality filler, then sand the surface smooth. Allow the surface to dry completely before installation.
Preparing and checking the wallpaper before installation
These wallpaper drops have been cut and matched to the dimensions and quantities specified in your order. They are generally supplied in sequence (with drop numbers marked on the back or at the bottom, depending on the production method, particularly for non-repeating designs or custom mural compositions) and are packaged together in a single roll.
Before installation, check that you have received all the drops, that the pattern matches correctly, and that the height, material, colour, and all other specifications are consistent with your order. Verify everything carefully before beginning installation.
Wallpaper Installation
Prepare the non-woven wallpaper adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions, ensuring that the correct mixing ratio and activation time are observed, as indicated on the adhesive packaging.
Make sure the wallpaper drops are properly centred on the wall. Do not start with a full-width drop if this would leave a very narrow strip at the end of the wall. Instead, divide the required width between the first and last drops to achieve a more balanced appearance.
We recommend starting with the second drop of your panel.
Using a plumb line or spirit level, mark a perfectly vertical guideline for the first drop. Avoid using the corner of the wall as your reference, as corners are often not perfectly straight.
We recommend marking light pencil guidelines to help ensure the first drop is perfectly vertical. However, pencil marks may sometimes show through lighter wall coverings, so avoid using soft or heavy pencil leads and check that any visible marks are erased before installation.
Evenly dampen the back of the material using clean water and a decorator's sponge. Fold the drop back onto itself (printed side out) and allow it to soak for 15 minutes before hanging.
Apply undiluted adhesive to the wall using a medium-pile paint roller. Apply adhesive to one drop width at a time. Position the first drop while leaving approximately 5 cm (2 inches) of excess material at the top to compensate for any unevenness in the wall or ceiling.
Using a flexible smoothing spatula, apply Contract Mat to the prepared surface, working from top to bottom with smooth, even strokes. Take care not to squeeze adhesive out along the edges. Allow the wall covering to relax for approximately 15 minutes before trimming the excess material at the top and bottom.
If using the double-cut overlap method to join adjacent drops, allow sufficient overlap so that the pattern aligns correctly. Cut through both layers along the centre of the overlap while using plastic trimming strips to protect the wall underneath. If you are not ready to complete the seam immediately, fold back approximately 5 cm (2 inches) of each edge until you are ready to join it with the next drop.
Repeat the same installation process for each subsequent drop.
